KAREN BLIXEN’S FLOWERS
Interpreted by Maria Dubin
Karen Blixen Museum, Rungstedlund, 2017
Ink on paper
Each day, I chose a flower from Karen Blixen’s garden, brought it home, and spent time getting to know it. I would then draw it, often in a single brushstroke, capturing its essence. The next day, I selected a new flower and repeated the process. Over time, this practice grew into a large collection, an exhibition, and four books published by the Karen Blixen Museum. Each book contains 50 calligraphic flower drawings, with no two alike. – Maria Dubin
A new commission with Maria’s interpretation of Blixen’s flowers returns to the Karen Blixen Museum in 2025.
